VIDEO: What Laurie Loves Most about MB

One of the greatest personality traits Laurie Graham King possesses is her “yes” mentality. Sometimes it seems like all I have to say is, “Laurie, would you want to—” and she says yes before I even get the whole sentence out!

It’s amazing to have a friend like this and it’s amazing to be a teammate with someone like this. Because not only will she say yes, but once she says yes, she pours all of her resources into a project to ensure its success. She often calls herself the biggest cheerleader for her clients, but I think it goes further than her professional life. She brings this quality to each of her relationships and makes people feel like they can do anything, be anything, try anything.

With Model Behaviors, Laurie has been a stylist for our photo shoots and she’s emceed a few of our events. She’s a natural at both, and her warm, vibrant energy is always a great boost in any room, with any crowd.

We love having Laurie on Team MB, and we can’t wait to see what else this phenomenal woman will accomplish!

A Note From: Friscovania & the Frights of the Round Table

Togetherness: 1. warm fellowship, as among members of a family 2. the quality, state, or condition of being together.

The best friendships happen over time. Sometimes the how and when and why we met are forgotten—irrelevant. The important thing is that we’re together now, and if and when one day we’re not, our friendship will never be forgotten. There’s no need to describe these friendships with a million adjectives. They just are. They’re a feeling, a knowing, and an unconditional acceptance.

Even if one day, God forbid, a member of this togetherness falls ill and is given a week to live, the other members will come together to draw strength and give love in kind, gentle gestures—like combing her hair when she no longer has the strength, sharing funny memories to make her smile even when she’s sleeping, and wiping her face with warm cloths, preserving her dignity.

Our togetherness is bonded for life because of this experience. It was a group effort, a constant battle of balance. When one would feel weak, another would provide strength, and none of us ever let each other down. We became one-big-devoted-motley crew, a family.

And after our dear Kelly succumbed to stage IV breast cancer in May, we realized that our work wasn’t done. This cancer had taken such a young and vibrant life so fast and unexpectedly, but her story didn’t have to end. It resides in all of us.

VIDEO: Friscovania Is Almost Here!

At the FC Dallas game last Saturday, we had a team of supporters out there, stuffing flyers into seats, selling tickets, and letting everyone know about the event. Kodi Nelson and a few of our Friscovania models gave an interview to share the meaning behind Friscovania, which you can watch in the video above!

VIDEO: Holly, on Shaping the Life of a Daughter

When I think of Holly, I can’t help thinking of this famous Shakespeare quote from A Midsummer Night’s Dream: “Though she be but little, she is fierce!”

This captures the force and spirit of our go-to DIY mama to a tee. She always has a dozen different tutorials she’s working on. She always has something fun planned for the family. She always has a big self-growth project (for instance, going vegetarian or training to run a half-marathon). And on top of it all, she started her own business and holds down a full-time job. Not to mention her latest venture, TED Fox Event Artistry!

Beneath her go-go-go mentality, she’s got a backbone of steel. She is tiny, but her low, deep voice is steady—through high times and low—and she comes to the aid of her friends the second we call. She’s weathered some difficult journeys, in particular, her struggle with fertility. She’s one of the fiercest mama bears I know, so it makes total sense that when we asked her what she loves about being part of Model Behaviors, her thoughts turned to her daughter.

VIDEO: Where Will You Be October 22nd?

Model Behaviors and FC Dallas are presenting the biggest Halloween extravaganza North Texas has ever seen, on behalf of City House of Collin County and in memory of Kelly Whaley. It’s called Friscovania and you need to be there! The event is from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. with a kids portion from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m and then a live music and haunted fashion show from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Dozens of models, designers, and hair and makeup artists are ready to ROCK the runway. In the video, you get a little a taste of all the spooktacular fun ahead!
