I was born and raised in small town Connecticut with a dream of exploring the world. My journey began when I decided to move to California’s Bay Area with my then boyfriend, leaving behind family and friends in search of new opportunities. Then, one California summer, a flight to Kansas City, and love resulting in heartbreak, kept me in Kansas-Missouri.

Taking an extended pause here, I joined the University of Kansas Jayhawk family as the Program Coordinator for Diversity Programs and Social Justice in the Office of Multicultural Affairs. With a B.A. in American Studies with an emphasis in Race and Ethnic Studies from Wesleyan University and an M.S. in Counselor Education specializing in Higher Education from Central Connecticut State University, I developed a passion for working with students and engaging in dialogue about power, privilege, oppression, and other social justice issues.

While I love education and the vibrancy of working on a college campus, I consider myself an activist first and foremost. I am always looking for opportunities to get involved in movements centered on social progress, joining my voice in solidarity with others and continually finding inspiration in the experiences and stories of others. Claiming our space and sharing our stories is one of the most liberating acts that we as women can do in this world to strive for authenticity and openness, in the process of discovering a collective voice. This past year has been about my own rediscovery. I hope to consistently make an impact and continually inspire and be inspired by this sisterhood that is Model Behaviors.
