Revamp Reveal: Finding the Heart of MB | Model Behaviors

Revamp Reveal: Finding the Heart of MB

Every few months, Toni and I get together to talk about the future of Model Behaviors—where we can improve, where we’ve seen growth, and any big ideas we might have for the site. In the fall of last year, Toni mentioned this idea of the Mommy Makeover Contest. I could tell she’d been thinking on it for a while because she already had a pretty solid direction of what she hoped the contest could be. What I remember most from this meeting was that she wanted it to be more than just a contest. We’d use the term “makeover” because people would recognize it, but we were going to help women learn skills that would last a lifetime, that would carry them beyond the contest, and that would transform their lives.

VIDEO: Sneak Peek of MB’s Latest Revamp!

Twice a year, a group of Behaviorists and I get together for a photo shoot so we can update the site and make everything fresh and new again. These get-togethers have come to be one of my favorite parts about starting Model Behaviors. I feel like each one keeps getting better and better. When the Behaviorists come, my heart fills up and the day ends on such a blissfully high note.

One of our theme words earlier this year was evolution, and I like to keep that word very present when it comes to Model Behaviors. We’re always changing, growing, and evolving.

At the moment we have nine Behaviorists, and when our revamp goes live, we’ll be introducing a new section—The Village. I’m so lucky to have this exceptional team by my side.  I can’t wait to share all that we have in store, but before we do, enjoy this sneak peek of Model Behaviors’ latest revamp!

We’d like to thank Joanna Hathcock for hair and makeup, Laurie Graham and Free People of Northpark Center for the styling, Simon Lopez for the photography, and Drew Nicolello of Kharis Media for the videography.

PS: We missed you Alaysia, Barbara, Bulaong, Kathryn, and Rachel! Hope to see you next time!

Model Behaviors: A New Look and Evolution

We love our crew so much! This community has really grown into something we’re proud of. Thank you all for being part of this growth. Do you want to see just how great it is when you put eight amazing women together? Check out our video that explains it.

Thank you to Kharis Media, Simon Lopez Photography, Laurie Graham Style, and Kelly Whaley for all their help with the making of this video and photo shoot!

Today marks the latest evolution in the Model Behaviors journey. Over the last year, I’ve slowly introduced eight other women, our Behaviorists, who share their stories, expertise, and passion on a wide variety of topics every month. Sometimes, when I’m reading their posts, when their hearts and souls come blazing through in their words, I have to pinch myself. How did I get so lucky to meet these women? How did I get so lucky to have them be a part of this crazy dream of mine?

Laurie’s Style Inspiration for the Model Behaviors Fall/Winter Revamp

There is nothing more gratifying than feeling comfortable and happy just truly being yourself. I love attending weddings as a guest because it’s such a direct reflection of who those people are as individuals and as a couple. Every ceremony is vastly different. Sometimes the theme is “country chic” serving BBQ on a ranch with daisies in mason jars listening to the DJ spin Zach Brown Band tunes. Or maybe it’s a sexy candlelit rooftop affair with Lucite bars and sweeping, downtown views being serenaded by a live performance from Sting. From traditional to rustic to contemporary, people express their personalities in so many ways. As a personal stylist, I make a living helping people create a signature style through the vehicle of fashion.

Fashion is one of the most powerful ways to express who we are. It illustrates how we feel about ourselves and how we want others to perceive us. Whether you care about using your image to your advantage or not, it still sends the world a message. Your image can say “I couldn’t care less about what you think” or “I am desperately seeking attention” or “I am confident in my own skin and a leader in my field” just to name a few.  When I begin work with new clients, I ask them about their activities, lifestyle, hobbies, and goals. If they tell me they want a promotion within their profession, I then ask them if they think their personal style reflects that they are at the top of their game within their industry. If they tell me they want to attract the mate of their dreams, I ask them about the kind of person they want to attract and if they think their image is sending the right message to attract that kind of person.

Sneak Peek of Our Fall Revamp | Model Behaviors

Sneak Peek of our Fall Revamp

As I mentioned earlier this month, October marks my one-year anniversary with Model Behaviors. The cool thing about being part of Team MB is that I get to meet and interact with some freaking incredible women that I never would’ve met if it weren’t for Toni and Model Behaviors.

The only downside is we’re spread out all across the country, so unfortunately, weekly margarita nights are out.

But Tuesday, that all changed with our latest MB photo shoot! We’re gearing up for a Fall 2015 Revamp next month, so we gathered at Toni’s house—some of us even flew in from LA and Connecticut—to meet each other in person for the first time, play dress-up, and drink some of Toni’s addicting Beso Caliente Margaritas! Throughout the day, there was lots of beautiful bonding, heartfelt conversations, (potentially margarita-induced) tears, and tons of laughter.
