Indian Healing Clay

Another one of my favorites for deep pore cleansing is Indian Healing Clay from Aztec Secret. You can find it at Whole Foods or online stores like Amazon. This clay is magical! It’s also great for all skin types, especially acne prone. I use it on my fourteen-year-old son, and it has done wonders!

According to the Aztec Secret website, Indian Healing Clay is a bentonite clay that originates from Death Valley, California. The clay is formed as a result of volcanic ash that has deposited and settled into the earth. As the ash settles over thousands of years, it continually absorbs nutrients and minerals from the earth. The combination of ash, minerals, and nutrients can be found within the clay, and this healing mixture is then sun-dried up to six months in temperatures that sometimes reach 134 degrees.

All you need in order to do the face mask at home is the clay and organic raw apple cider vinegar. Simple, right?

Apply it to the face at about ¼ inch thickness and let it dry. If you have sensitive skin, I would recommend taking it off after about 10 minutes to see how your skin reacts. I usually keep it on for 30 minutes, or until the mask is completely dry. Remove the clay by washing with warm water. A slight redness may appear after removing, but this is normal and will disappear in approximately 30 minutes.

Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay helps to remove dirt and impurities from the pores of the skin. A small warning: It isn’t the most comfortable mask. As the clay dries, your skin will feel very tight and you may feel it pulsate. It can be a very strange sensation, but it’s so worth it—trust me!
