Beauty Advice for Moms

Being a single, working mom, most days feel like they aren’t long enough because of everything that needs to be done, so of course, way too often my needs are last on the to-do list. But, Mommies, I have come to realize that we must take care of ourselves!

Ever heard, “Your body is a temple”?

There’s so much truth in that adage. We have to look after ourselves, both inside and out.

Today, I’m going to share with you some of my favorite beauty advice for moms on how to do just that without feeling like you’re losing valuable time.

The Body

I can’t stress this enough—keeping moisturized and hydrated is a must.

Your skin needs this every day. Just think of it as feeding your skin. If you want to keep your skin elasticity as you age, I promise you will be grateful for taking the few extra minutes each and every day to do this.

Here’s my secret: After I’m done showering but still in the shower, I put on Neutrogena Body Oil. Its light sesame formula goes on easily, and it’s so sheer that it disappears quickly into shower-damp skin, leaving you soft and silky with a radiant, healthy glow. This is the best moisturizer ever!

For hydration, it’s simple: Drink water!

The human body contains a very significant amount of H2O, up to 50-65 percent (source). We should all be drinking 2 liters (approximately 8 glasses) of water each day (source).

It might be easy to get caught up in our busy-mommy schedules and forget about drinking water, but every night before I go to sleep, I prepare my water bottles with slices of cucumber, and pop them in the fridge. I make sure to bring these goodies with me the next day, and sometimes I experiment with different tasty additions like berries too!

Makeup

Whether you’re going out of the house or not, it’s important to put yourself together. You want to feel beautiful. It doesn’t have to be for anyone else—just for you!

Keep in mind that you don’t have to put on a full face of makeup. Here’s how to keep it breezy and confident in just a few minutes. Begin by washing the face, then apply day moisturizer with SPF (I use tinted moisturizer), and lastly, add a touch of blush, mascara, and lip balm. That’s it!

The whole process takes less than 10 minutes, and it’s so worth it because I feel great and look beautiful.

Hair

If my hair is a mess and I really don’t have time, it goes up in a ponytail or some side braids. And sometimes, if it’s really a mess or dirty, I’ll wear a cool hat!

If I like the way my face looks, then it doesn’t matter as much about my hair.

Clothes

Even if your busy day is at home, don’t stay in your pj’s.

It’s so important to make a little effort—for you again! Throw on a pair of jeans and a T-shirt or a cool sweater. Et voila! You’re prepared for the unexpected.

To all my fellow mommies out there: Remember, you’re worth it, and the little things can change how you feel, your reactions, your mood, and your productivity.

Women can do it all. We are superheroes! Take time for yourself!
