Today is National Read a Book Day! This unofficial holiday was created to encourage everyone, book lovers and non-book lovers alike, to pick out a book and find a quiet, peaceful moment in the day to step away from electronics and simply read for a while.

MB Collective: National Women’s Equality Day

Women gained the right to vote in the US on this day only ninety-six years ago. Considering that our nation’s first election was held in 1788 (over two hundred years ago!), it’s still a pretty big deal for us ladies.

I’d also like to mention that in 1920, when the 19th Amendment passed, this was mostly for white women. It was a long time before women of color gained equal access to the polls.

But back in 1920 when the amendment finally passed, this marked a huge step toward equality, so the Behaviorists and I wanted to honor that important moment in history by sharing why we believe it’s crucial for women today to get out there and vote.

MB Collective: Father’s Day

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of getting to know my friend’s father through her wonderful and often hilarious stories about him. He was the man she turned to her entire life, and he was the man she turned to when she found out that she was bringing a new life into this world, alone. In the beginning, she struggled with his role of being her father and also a father figure to her son. She wondered if it would be confusing, or if her son would know the difference, and at times, this filled her with guilt. But she journeyed on with the help of her father and plethora of longtime friends. Everyone pitched in to fill in the gaps. And as Father’s Day quickly approaches, I’m reminded that this day isn’t just about celebrating the biological definition of a father, but to also honor those men and women who are filling in the gaps with unwavering dedication and unconditional love.

For our MB Collective this month, I asked our Behaviorists to share a positive quality they’ve learned from their fathers or father figures and how their fathers taught them these qualities.

MB Collective: Celebrating Women’s History Month

As you might have guessed from this post’s title, March is Women’s History Month! Too often the lives of women in history go unsung and unnoticed. However, if we dig deeper, we’ll find incredible women with stories of bravery, innovation, ambition, and heroism.

I thought this month of recognition would be the perfect opportunity for a few special guests and the Behaviorists to share a little bit more about the women in history who’ve inspired us as individuals. From political leaders to pop stars to investigative journalists, the list of women below is as diverse and inspiring as the women who’ve contributed to it.

MB Collective: How to Prepare for a Serious Relationship

With Valentine’s Day so close and one of our Behaviorists so recently engaged (huge congrats, Laurie and Chris!), I thought it would be fun to check in with each of our Behaviorists in a long-term, committed relationship. I wanted to know how different women mentally prepare themselves for that in-it-for-the-long-haul type of love.

Here’s what they each had to say.
