Rachel Santschi’s List of Draft Hopefuls to Watch This Thanksgiving

To me, Thanksgiving is a time to be with your family, rejoice in your blessings, eat a lot of turkey, and of course, watch some football.

This Thanksgiving Day, to kick things off in the NFL, the Eagles will travel to Detroit to take on the Lions at 11:30 a.m. That afternoon, wake up from you food coma and catch the Dallas Cowboys host the Carolina Panthers at 3:30 p.m. After that, grab some more pumpkin pie and watch the Chicago Bears take on the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field at 7:30 p.m.

When the weekend rolls around and you’re still munching on those Thanksgiving leftovers, there’s a few college games on the docket that you should definitely watch. Plus, there’s five college players you should keep an eye on because you may see them in the NFL soon enough.

Note: All times listed are central. Players listed in no particular order.

Bosa is a junior at Ohio State University and plays defensive end (DE) for the team. He’s 6’6”, 275 lbs and according to CBSSports.com, he has “good initial quickness for his size, staying low and generating an immediate push. Heavy-handed and uses his full extension to put blockers on skates.” Translation, he’s able to drive offensive tackles backward. Bosa is projected to be drafted number one overall, potentially by the Detroit Lions.

Saturday, the 28th: Bosa and his team take on the Michigan Wolverines.

This defensive tackle (DT) is a junior at Ole Miss. At 6’4”, 296 lbs, he’s an incredible athlete. He was recently named by NFL.com as the No. 7 most freakish athlete and No. 11 scariest player in college football. Safe to say, he’s a pretty decent player. He has some staggering stats and is projected to go second or third in the NFL draft.

Saturday, the 28th: Ole Miss is set to play Mississippi State.

Jared Goff is a junior quarterback out of California at 6’4”and 210 lbs. He has started every game since his freshman year and is a productive passer.

In just three seasons, according to the “Chicago Sun-Times,” “Goff already owns most of Cal’s passing records. He just surpassed Troy Taylor as the school’s all-time passing yardage leader with 8,379 and counting” (source).

NFL Analyst Andy Benoit evaluated Goff’s game recently and said, “when Goff comes out, he’ll likely be talked about as the best quarterback in the upcoming draft” (source).

Saturday the 28th: Goff and company will take on Arizona State.

Hope you all enjoy your Thanksgiving holiday with your family and friends and have the chance to watch some football!
