Woman of the Month: Yvonne Crum (Interview, Part II)

Last week, we shared Part I of the two-part interview with Yvonne Crum, our November Woman of the Month. You can read Part I here.

Today we’ve got the second part for you, and let me warn you, it’s got some powerful content. Yvonne is bursting at the seams with incredible stories and fascinating tales, but it’s in the quiet moments of introspection, the brief pauses when the strength of her emotions overcomes her, where her wisdom and intellect come through the strongest.

Please enjoy Part II of Courtney’s interview with Yvonne.

It's Election Day! | Model Behaviors

It’s Election Day!

Today is election day! If you haven’t already gotten out there and early voted, today is THE day. Google has made it so easy for you. Just open the main page, click on the Google doodle, and find a polling station near you. Or if you’re on your phone, simply type in “nearest polling location” and Google will pull it right up.

It’s so important, especially for us ladies, to get out there and vote. It’s empowering, and when enough of us speak up and use our voices, we can and do make a difference. Good luck out there and may your polling station have short, quick lines.

Now go vote!

Anne-Marie's Baked Sweet Potato Soup | Model Behaviors

Anne-Marie’s Baked Sweet Potato Soup

I absolutely LOVE fall. There’s something about that feeling when you step outside and turn right back around to grab a sweater. That first chill of the season draws a rush of excitement from me. I crave coffee, not only to wake me up, but to warm me up, which means I also crave big mugs of steaming soup.

Recently, in an attempt to tame our sugar dragons, my husband and I completed the Whole30. And, while weren’t entirely successful at giving up wine, we did manage to go without added sugar, dairy, and grains for a month. During the process we discovered a love for sweet potatoes and Ghee (clarified butter). Today’s recipe, my spicy baked-sweet potato soup, includes both.

Woman of the Month: Yvonne Crum (Interview, Part I)

This month, we’re honored to introduce Yvonne Crum as our November Woman of the Month!

Yvonne is affectionately known as the fundraising queen around Dallas because she’s been involved with countless organizations, helping to plan, organize, and execute wildly successful fundraising events for many of our local nonprofits. We first really got to know each other when she asked me to be a Fashion Star for her Fashion Stars for a Cause event benefiting the Suicide and Crisis Center of North Texas.

I wanted to get involved and help others because of my own experiences as a survivor of suicide, and Yvonne’s passion for the cause was immediately infectious. One thing that stands out to me with Yvonne is that she is so supportive of every person she meets. When someone she knows is celebrating a success, she’s always the first to share the news and celebrate right along with them. That includes Model Behaviors. From day one, she’s been right there leaving comments, sharing our posts, and sending us so much love and encouragement.

Yvonne has led one of the most fascinating and inspiring lives, so I’m beyond thrilled to share Courtney’s two-part interview with this incredible woman. Read part one below and come back next week for part two!

Barbara Guillaume's Intro to Reiki Healing | Model Behaviors

Barbara Guillaume’s Intro to Reiki Healing

In the last five years, I’ve been more and more interested in learning about ways to heal yourself with natural medicine. I decided I wouldn’t be  popping pills for every ache and pain. At first, I had so many questions about general well-being and healthcare. Things like, Why are our bodies getting sick? What creates the imbalance? Is modern medicine better than traditional medicine?

I did a lot of reading, online research, and had many conversations with both professionals and friend. From all the research and the conversations, the word Reiki kept coming up.

This lead me to conduct even more research, and I really liked what I found. Let me share with you what Reiki is.
