Barbara’s Hot Summer Beauty Picks

When is a shiny face too shiny? And how can we make it not shiny? These are the struggles we are met with, ladies!

Summer is here, so no matter where we live, where we go on a beautiful vacation, or what our activities are, the heat is here to stay, too. One thing we all have in common in this heat is ending up with “the shiny face.”

What we want is a gentle glow, that perfectly dewy complexion.

So today I’m providing a few different options to combat shine once and for all this summer.

1. H20+ Elements: Hit the Matte Toner | 2. Murad Oil-Control Mattifier SPF 15 PA++ | 3. MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Pressed Powder |4. Smashbox Photo Finish 24-Hour Shadow Primer | 5. Tatcha Aburatorigami Japanese Beauty Papers | 6. Tatcha Pore Perfecting Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 35

Knowing your skin type and choosing the right skincare products for your skin will make all the difference, which means my first bit of advice is to keep away from oily products. They can clog your pores and won’t let your skin breathe.

Go with an oil-free moisturizer in the summer if your skin tends to get oily. Always look for matte formulas. Those products are great as they help combat grease.

Using a product like H20+ Elements: Hit the Matte Toner in your morning routine will help keep your skin fresh without that oily look.

Another one of my favorite products that I always keep in my makeup kit is Murad Oil-Control Mattifier SPF 15 PA++.

It’s just amazing! As soon as you put it on your face, the shine is immediately reduced. I use this on all my clients with a bit of MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Pressed Powder on their T-zone. I love this combination because it keeps the makeup light. The last thing we want in this heat is to feel like we’re caking anything onto our skin. But grab these two products and you’re ready to go!

Using a primer for your eye makeup is always a good idea, especially in summer. Whether your skin is oily or not, your eyelids always get oily after a long day, and your makeup will slip and slide and smudge everywhere.

I really love Smashbox Photo Finish 24-Hour Shadow Primer. It seriously keeps your eye shadows or liners in place all day!

Last, always have some blotting papers in your bag, no matter what. It’s a quick, easy way to fix your oily skin on the go.

I love Tatcha Aburatorigami Japanese Beauty Papers because one sheet of paper goes a long way. It will absorb all excess oils off your face without affecting your makeup.

And while I’m talking about Tatcha products, their sunscreen is amazing! Pore Perfecting Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 35 is an invisible, lightweight sunscreen to perfect and protect your skin. It has a non-greasy formula that tightens pores, which makes it a perfect primer for makeup. Plus, it’ll protect your skin at the same time!

This sunscreen is great for all skin-types and is non-comedogenic, which basically means it’s been specially formulated so as not to block pores.

Those are all my favorite products to keep your face beautiful and dewy without that oily look at the end of the day.

Enjoy your summer, and no matter what you decide, always protect your skin with at least SPF 15!
