Friscovania has two very distinct parts—there’s the kids’ haunted carnival from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and the live music and haunted fashion show from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. which is geared toward adults. When creating the aesthetic, we had to develop a logo, color scheme, and graphics that would work equally well for both portions of the event.
First, we worked with Allison Hyde of Hyde Graphics. Before the Friscovania logo and stadium map, Allison created each of our hand-lettered Wellness Wednesday theme words and accompanying quotes. You can see a lot of her beautiful hand-lettering here. As soon as we got the go-ahead on Friscovania, we contacted Allison to see if she’d be interested in creating the logo and a mock-up of what the stadium would look like with all the different stations.
It took her about 2.5 milliseconds to say yes and hop onboard this amazing cause.
Toni had an idea of what she wanted to incorporate and the general layout of the logo. She wanted it to look like a skyline over the outline of Texas with some instantly recognizable Frisco landmarks. Plus, maybe a few fun and spooky Halloween elements. Allison took that idea and ran with it. We went back and forth, tweaking and revising each draft until we ended up with the final product that you see today!
