It might be said that we know more about what not to eat—processed, salty, and sugary foods— than what to eat, but there are some foods with proven healing properties that cannot be overlooked. Many of these medicinal foods are great tasting and work well in a variety of juices. Their antioxidants counteract cell deterioration and in some cases repair cell damage.  Today on The Monday Menu, here are some of my favorite superfoods, which are easy on the digestive system and help fight disease, all in one delicious juice!

Juice: Grapple Berry Mint

It isn’t a secret that grapefruit is chock-full of vitamin C, which can come in handy during cold and flu season, but this fleshy fruit also contains citric acid, natural sugars, and many essential oils. Not to mention it possesses nutrients like liminoids, flavonoids, lycopene, and glucarates that help fight cancer and a plethora of other diseases. So, juicing this super food is a smart thing to do, but remember that it’s important to leave as much of the albedo (the white part that clings to the fruit found under the peel) as possible because this is where the highest amount of bioflavonoids and other anti-cancer properties are located.
