It’s a new year and time for a new bold look. On the red carpet, celebrities are channeling Dita Von Teese and her ’40s inspired bombshell look complete with sleek waves and daring lips. But this era of Hollywood glamour doesn’t need to be complicated or dated. You can create your own spin on classic trends with a few simple tricks from the professionals. Here, AdvoCare SYS makeup artist and friend Kelly Whaley and I will share some tips on how to accomplish the perfect retro-glam look!

Start with a clean face, by using SYS Cleanser and SYS Day to even out skin texture and suppleness.

Take a 1 ½-inch or 2-inch curling iron and curl in the direction of your desired style. Then, use Velcro rollers or bobby pins to pin the curl in place and set.

Consider applying one pump of SYS Day to any foundation for a dewy appearance. I prefer Armani Luminous Silk Foundation.

Lightly brush on a smoky eyelid and make sure to blend in some shadow on the lower lash line. No need for dark eye shadow because the attention will be on the winged eyeliner.

Remove Velcro rollers or bobby pins, and take a smoothing brush to work through curls for a shiny, wavy look.

To complete the look, use a bright, vivid lipstick. Wet n Wild Lipstick has some gorgeous and affordable colors.

For some extra drama, use bronzer to sculpt face, highlighter to make cheekbones pop, and eyebrow filler to shape eyebrows.
