Wellness Wednesday: EXPLORE

This is our final week to focus on the word “explore.” We’ve looked at exploring by travel, and we’ve looked at the exploration of difficult emotions. We’ve also explored the topic of domestic violence in the hopes of raising awareness, both within ourselves and within this Model Behaviors community and beyond. So this week, Courtney’s chosen a whimsical yet apt quote to complete her word of the month.

This Week’s Thoughts

As Courtney tells me this quote comes from Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, spoken by the character Albus Dumbledore. The thing I love about adventure is that it comes in many different forms. It’s an adventure to travel to a new country. It’s an adventure to get married. Hell, it’s even an adventure to try a new restaurant sometimes! Perhaps the greatest adventure of my life so far has been this wild, beautiful, unpredictable journey into motherhood. And what an adventure it has been so far!

Sometimes our adventures are scary or dangerous or disappointing, but what’s important when we embark on these journeys is that we leave ourselves open to the magic. We can be swept away. We can become someone new. We can discover impossible things about ourselves. In order to do all this, we have to take the first step away from the known and the comfortable. We have to pursue that flighty temptress.

This Week’s Challenge

I’d love for us all to go on an adventure this week, big or small—something that puts us a little outside of our comfort zone. Attend a local carnival and get on the fastest, highest ride you can find. Eat something crazy like eel for the first time. Drive to a fun fall festival in a nearby town. Write that short story you’ve had in the back of your mind for years.

When you pick your adventure, share it with us on Instagram using #wellnessMB! We can’t wait to see what everyone chooses!
