Toni’s Top Ten: Super Bowl XLVIII Fashions

Super Bowl XLVIII was unlike any other.  Dualistic themes were everywhere: polar vortex like conditions vs. warm balmy temperatures, New Jersey vs. New York City, Seahawks vs. Broncos, and city street wear vs. chic couture.  From an observer-lover’s point of view, this Super Bowl had it all, and it could very well go down in history as one of the best hosted venues to date.  Take a look at how sports and fashion unapologetically took over these two cities.

1. NFL Owners Reception at the Mandarin Oriental

Representing the Saints, all eyes were on Rita LeBlanc in her Dolce & Gabbana black lace number, red velvet Alexander McQueen shoes, and Jimmy Choo purse.  The mix of fabrics and textures gave just the right pop to her ensemble, making it a hard act for Jimmy Fallon to follow, as he got on stage to host the event.

2. After Party at the Roseland Ballroom

Well-known for its big girl party reputation, the Roseland did not disappoint.  Male celebrities like Tyson Beckford and Grammy winner, Macklemore, traipsed around in the chicest of street wear, while women’s looks ranged from sweet dresses, like this from Alice + Olivia, to boy-meets-girl suspenders and baggy pants.

3. NFL Super Bowl Party at the American Museum of Natural History

With a sea of little black cocktail dresses, I couldn’t help but gravitate to the amazing, stylish shoes in attendance.  From boots with invisible heels, to vibrant pops of red, orange, and blue, to fringe that sassed around with each bouncy stride, it was all about the shoes.

4. NFL Honors Red Carpet Event

Very rarely do big strapping athletes get overshadowed on the red carpet, but all eyes were on Elizabeth Smith, quarterback Alex Smith’s wife, and model Emily Ratajkowski, wearing this plunging black dress with a high slit.

5. Direct TV’s Party featuring Jay-Z

Depending on which Jay-Z you grew up with, fans showed up in droves to hear the lyrical J-Hova himself.  From short dresses and stilettos, to suits and bowties, to bra-tops and jeans, the fashions were as fresh and tight as Beyonce’s guest performance.

6. Super Bowl XLVIII Tailgate Party

A little rock ‘n’ roll brings any event to the next level.  Danny is wearing a vintage Roberto Cavalli studded leather motorcycle jacket.

7. Super Bowl XLVIII

Annabel Bowlen was definitely the belle of the Bowl, and she’s definitely no rookie when it comes to fashion.  Looking fabulous in winter white, Annabel wore a calf-length Dolce & Gabbana dress and matching jacket, perfectly adorned with giant Pasquale pearls from Australia.

8. Super Bowl XLVIII

But, the little accessory that kept trying to steal the show, like the Seattle’s Defense, was Annabel’s exquisite Judith Leiber custom handbag.  The jeweled mini replica of a Denver Broncos’ helmet was complete with a delicate gold chain.

9.  Super Bowl XLVIII

Hands down, the Broncos fans came, saw, and dominated the Super Bowl fashion scene, and combining these two strong colors was no small feat. Kelly Smith, photographed on the left, is wearing a Zachary Prell sweater, Banana Republic shirt, Zara pants, and Bally shoes.  Smith also added his own touch with orange and blue Swarovski crystals to his tie.

10. Super Bowl XLVIII

Saving the best for last, the Bowlen sisters were the Super Bowl fashion highlights.  Annabel and Christianna missed no detail, and radiated from head to toe.  Christianna mixed affordable fashions, like her J. Crew dress, with two very high-end pieces, her bright blue Dior shoes, and custom football-shaped Judith Lieber handbag.  And, Annabel, a stylist with Free People Denver, came to play, wearing a blue lace Shoshanna dress, Jeffrey Campbell shoes, Jean Paul Gaultier orange fur vest, and custom Broncos necklace from Trice Jewelers.

I hope you enjoyed the fashions from Super Bowl XLVIII as much as I did!
