Becoming the Landlady

This month I closed a chapter in my life playing a role I didn’t specifically chose for myself—the landlady.

My husband and I were young professionals when we met and fell in love, but along with the storybook romance came the reality. We married in 2009 after the real estate market began to plummet. We couldn’t sell our properties to buy a home together. So we rented out my condominium, and I moved in with my husband and Boulder (his 130-pound Rottweiler).

Hello, hello! This is our final week of “simplicity.” Next week we’ll be back with a new word to carry us through each of September’s Wellness Wednesday intentions. Before we do that, however, I want to say thank you to our Behaviorist, Holly, who posted this awesome picture using the #wellnessMB hashtag. She’s switching to a vegetarian lifestyle, for herself and her family, and she says she has never felt better. Awesome job, Holly! We’re rooting for you!

Wellness Wednesday: SIMPLICITY

I’m really looking forward to hearing how everyone did on last week’s simple but sophisticated challenge! Last week, to combine simplicity with sophistication, I decided to downsize my closet, leaving only classic, sophisticated pieces. This ended up being a more complicated task than I imagined! So instead of trying to do it all in one week, I split the chore in half. I still have clothes to work through, but I’m a lot less stressed than I would’ve been if forced myself to do the whole thing.

Simplicity and Saying No (and Okay, Maybe One Printable)

As you all know by now, this month’s inspirational word here at Model Behaviors is simplicity. What perfect timing, as I have been recently striving very specifically to simplify every area of my life including diet, possessions, space, finances, and more. My husband and I have enthusiastically taken on a “less is more” approach to life, and we truly have reaped more benefits than I could’ve possibly imagined.
