Holly’s New Line of Official FC Dallas Gear + Giveaway

Our Behaviorist Holly, owner and creator of SweetOrangeFox, has some very exciting news! She’s designed some FC Dallas bows and clips that will be sold in the official FC Dallas Team Store. We got together for a quick little interview so she could share more about this exciting new venture with our MB family. Read on to find out what this crafty mama has been cooking up behind the scenes!

1) First of all, where did you get the idea for these adorable headbands and clips?

I started making baby headbands and bows when I had my daughter about a year and a half ago. When I came across this FC Dallas fabric at a local store, I bought the entire bolt without a clue in the world as to what I’d use it for, but then when little Darlington arrived, I knew she just had to have a bow made out of it! In addition to the headbands, I also make them as a clip style which is perfect for adults. I’m going to have to convince you to rock a matching one!

Edit: Here’s Darlington and I with our matching bows!

2) You’re our go-to craft queen here at Model Behaviors. On average, how long does it take you to make something like this and what is your process?

Start to finish, a bow like this takes me about five to seven minutes to make. Believe it or not, there are ten to eleven steps for even this simple item, so I like to make them in larger batches—assembly line style—to save time. The first lot being sent out to the FC Dallas Team Store this week includes twenty-four headband bows and twenty-four clip bows, and it’s taken me two to three of the kids’ nap times to complete them, packaging and all.

3) I anticipate a lot of people asking this, so I’ll go ahead and put it out there. Do you make bows for any other sports teams? Or this an exclusive FC Dallas thing for now?

If the fabric exists out there, I can certainly make bows for any sports team! I have even had my own fabric printed in the past for special orders and occasions. I make bows from all sorts of prints for friends and family as gifts, but with trademark/license/legal restrictions, FCD is the only team for which I can currently sell these bows. I’d love to expand to more teams, though!

4) In your SweetOrangeFox shop, you mostly focus on banners and signs. Do you have plans to make more FC Dallas accessories in the future? Or even just more accessories? Basically, what’s your plan for accessories?

I can never seem to focus on just one item or even one area when it comes to what I make and sell in my online shop! About a year ago, SweetOrangeFox carried exclusively headbands and headwraps, and my party decor was in a separate shop. I decided ultimately to combine the shops and focus on party decor for the most part, but I still sneak in some accessories here and there. If the first round of bows fly off the shelves at the team store, we’re throwing around some ideas for additional FC Dallas accessories in the future…stay tuned!

5) Even though we’re giving one away on MB (enter below!), where can we purchase these?

Once I get the legal go-ahead, I’ll definitely have these for sale in my Etsy shop, but in the meantime you’ll find them exclusively at the FC Dallas Team Store at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, TX starting this week—just in time for playoffs. DTID! (Dallas ‘Til I Die, for those of you who’re uninitiated)
