FRISCOVANIA: The Costume Contest Celebrity Judges

Guess who’s coming to Friscovania! Five celebrity judges for our costume contest!

As you may know, throughout the event, there will be a costume contest. Our emcee of the event, Laurie Graham King, has rounded up a great group of celebrity judges to pick winners in five different categories—Babies (0 to 3 years), Kids (4 to 11 years), Teens (12 to 18 years), Adults (19+), and Family/Group Costumes. If you want to participate, go to the Chase Costume Contest and Raffle Barn to sign up and get your picture taken. Then from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. our judges will stroll around Friscovania, taking notes and picking out their favorites.

At 6:40 p.m., Power House of Dance will lead a conga line from the haunted carnival concourse down to the main stage. At around 7:00 p.m., we’ll announce each of our winners and award them their prize! You must be present to win, so dress to impress.

And speaking of judges, here’s a bit more info about each of our five amazing celebrity judges!

Laurie Graham King

With a degree in broadcast news from The University of Texas in Austin, and working as a Celebrity Fashion Stylist in Los Angeles for eleven years, Laurie Graham King is a nationally sought-after TV host and brand spokesperson. She’s been seen as a guest expert on the Oprah Winfrey Network, E! Entertainment, and featured in Redbook Magazine. Locally, Laurie is a regular contributor for FOX-4 Good Day, Good Morning Texas and The CW-33’s Eye Opener. She works with national brands like Macy’s and the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, and it’s her own sense of style and professional image that landed her a spot as one of Dallas’s “Hottest Residents” in dfw.com’s 2016 Hot Issue. She’s passionate about helping others find their confidence and has a personal incentive for working with the Alzheimer’s Organization, as well as emceeing various charity fundraisers. When Laurie isn’t consulting with businesses about their brand or image, she enjoys traveling as a newlywed with her husband, Chris.

Stephanie Hollman

Born and raised in a small town in Oklahoma, Stephanie Hollman is known for being “the girl next door” on the hit Bravo series Real Housewives of Dallas. Stephanie is passionate about giving back and is actively involved in numerous charitable organizations including Big Brothers Big Sisters and The Family Place. When Stephanie is not running around town with a camera crew documenting her life or managing her fashion blog, she’s enjoying time with her husband and two boys.

Jenny Anchondo

Jenny Anchondo is a Emmy-Award-winning news anchor and reporter. She has worked for CBS, NBC, and Fox at TV stations all over the country. She’s currently based in Dallas and works as an anchor and reporter for Fox 4 News, serving as the single host of the Saturday and Sunday morning broadcasts. In addition to multiple philanthropic projects Jenny lends her time to, she serves on the boards for the Housing Crisis Center and Leukemia Texas. She’s also a volunteer for Reading Partners and works to promote literacy in Dallas. Jenny is a founding member of the national mentoring organization, Mentoring Women’s Network, and was featured in the book Landing on my Feet: Learning to Lead Through Mentoring.

Marco Rivera

Marco Rivera played eleven seasons in the NFL. He was originally chosen by the Green Bay Packers in the 1996 draft and played for the Packers until 2005. While with the team, he was the 2004 Ed Block Courage Award recipient, a prestigious award voted on by his peers given to one player on every team that symbolizes sportsmanship, professionalism, great strength, courage, and dedication. In 2005, the Dallas Cowboys acquired Rivera in free agency where he started for two seasons before injuring his back. Rivera ultimately retired from the NFL as a Green Bay Packer in 2008. Rivera was inducted into the Green Bay Packer Hall Of Fame in 2011. Apart from his many successes on the field, Rivera has always lead a very rich one off it as well. From 1998 to 2004, Rivera ran a football camp called The Marco Rivera Pee Wee Camp in San Juan, Puerto Rico for kids ages 9 through 16. In 2009, Marco served as the Honorary Chair of the American Cancer Society’s Silver Dollar Ball here in Texas. And in 2014 and 2015 Rivera was a proud supporter of the Chris Kyle Foundation. Rivera and his wife, Michelle, have three sons—Dante, Roman, and Nico.

Maher Maso

Mayor Maher Maso proudly serves the City of Frisco, which the US Census Bureau named the fastest growing city in the country in the last decade. First as a council member and now as mayor, Maso works to further Frisco’s reputation as a can-do community known nationally and internationally for creating unique public-private partnerships resulting in first-class sports and entertainment venues. His enthusiasm for education, public service, and volunteerism extends beyond his role on the Frisco City Council. In 2005, he was honored as “Citizen of the Year” by the Chamber of Commerce. Maso and his wife Cindy are the proud parents of three children. He’s called Frisco home since 1992 and doesn’t plan on changing that any time soon.

Be sure you say hello to each of our judges if you see them strolling through the haunted carnival. Remember that the carnival is from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and the live music and fashion show are from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m.
