We’ve Got Some Big Changes Coming!

Hello, dear readers! We’re taking some much-needed time off to overhaul our new website, in order to share a little more about what we do and what we’ve been doing in the community, due to an overwhelming amount of requests for collaborations.

To keep with the integrity of our work and mission, we wanted to completely devote our time and energy throughout the month of December to do this.

We can’t wait to reveal this organic evolution, and we hope you’ll continue to be part of our cherished community.

Enjoy the holidays and we’ll see you in 2017!

We Wish You a Merry Fitmas!

I usually write blogs on health and fitness, so naturally I had to come up with a Christmas song related to fitness. This one is an original to be sung to the tune of “The Twelve Days of Christmas”! I thought this fitmas song would put you in a healthy holiday spirit.

On the first day of Christmas my trainer gave to me, a challenge to be healthy!

On the second day of Christmas my trainer gave to me, two shiny dumbbells, and a challenge to be healthy!

On the third day of Christmas my trainer gave to me, three days of soreness, two shiny dumbbells, and a challenge to be healthy!

On the fourth day of Christmas my trainer gave to me, four sets of squats, three days of soreness, two shiny dumbbells, and a challenge to be healthy!

On the fifth day of Christmas my trainer gave to me, five workout days, four sets of squats, three days of soreness, two shiny dumbbells, and a challenge to be healthy!

On the sixth day of Christmas my trainer gave to me, six pack of abs, five workout days, four sets of squats, three days of soreness, two shiny dumbbells, and a challenge to be healthy!

On the seventh day of Christmas my trainer gave to me, seven days of protein shakes, six pack of abs, five workout days, four sets of squats, three days of soreness, two shiny dumbbells, and a challenge to be healthy!

On the eighth day of Christmas my trainer gave to me, eight hours of sleeping, seven days of protein shakes, six pack of abs, five workout days, four sets of squats, three days of soreness, two shiny dumbbells, and a challenge to be healthy!

On the ninth day of Christmas, my trainer gave to me, nine workout songs, eight hours of sleeping, seven days of protein shakes, six pack of abs, five workout days, four sets of squats, three days of soreness, two shiny dumbbells, and a challenge to be healthy!

On the tenth day of Christmas my trainer gave to me, ten trainers training, nine workout songs, eight hours of sleeping, seven days of protein shakes, six pack of abs, five workout days, four sets of squats, three days of soreness, two shiny dumbbells, and a challenge to be healthy!

On the eleventh day of Christmas my trainer gave to me, eleven nutrition tips, ten trainers training, nine workout songs, eight hours of sleeping, seven days of protein shakes, six pack of abs, five workout days, four sets of squats, three days of soreness, two shiny dumbbells, and a challenge to be healthy!

On the twelfth day of Christmas my trainer gave to me, twelve months of training, eleven nutrition tips, ten trainers training, nine workout songs, eight hours of sleeping, seven days of protein shakes, six pack of abs, five workout days, four sets of squats, three days of soreness, two shiny dumbbells, and a challenge to be healthy!

Did you know that the average person gains seven to ten pounds during the holiday season? Yep! We get into the “I’ll wait ’til New Year’s” mentality, and that means no healthy food or workouts for at least six weeks. It’s almost like we accept we’re going to gain weight every holiday season, but why put our health on the back burner and gain weight when it’s not necessary?

Most people I talk to just want to survive this holiday season. I say, let’s change our mindset and thrive this holiday season!

The Monday Menu Revisited: Mom’s Classic Banana Bread and Muffins

For the month of November, we’ve taken a peek into the Monday Menu vault to find some of our most popular fall recipes. Each year in December, I  find myself returning to comforting childhood foods that remind me of cozy days spent with loved ones. As we say goodbye to November, enjoy this recipe for my mom’s classic banana bread and muffins.

Normally, I aim for healthy recipes but I’m a real pushover when it comes to the holidays. There are some goodies that I just can’t live without—like banana bread. I’m a banana-fanatic (try saying that fast five times). We always have bananas in the house, and I’m sure like most of you, I usually have a few that ripen beyond any repair. But don’t throw those babies out! They’re in perfect condition for this banana bread recipe. Toss them in the freezer, and save them for a time when you can bake some yummy, moist banana bread or banana muffins.

The Monday Menu Revisited: Cinnamon Apple Spice Juice

For the rest of November, we’re going to be taking a peek into the Monday Menu vault to find some of our most popular fall recipes. This juice would be a great Thanksgiving day breakfast accompaniment or maybe a tasty alternative to apple pie.

One of the best things about this time of year is the rich use of spices, and I can’t get enough of tasty cinnamon. But did you know that cinnamon doesn’t just taste amazing, it also helps lower bad cholesterol? This fall, try my spice-filled concoction, and enjoy the flavors that complement the crisp weather change as the wonderful hues that turn to golden brown.
